Flow Cytometry Training source:author:

    Flow cytometry emerged in the late 20th century, and can detect data on single cell level, therefore it is applied widely around the world. Flow cytometer is an essential instrument used in life science research area, for example oncology, genetics, immunology, microbiology, and biological pharmaceutical or related field. It can detect and obtain results rapidly on single cell level, such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, DNA content and specific protein expression, immune function (absolute lymphocyte subgroup analysis, cell counting, cell activation, cytokines, regulatory T cells and dendritic cells, antigen specific T cells), cell cycle, cell cycle protein, stem cell research (isolation, identification and function analysis of stem cells), drug screening, research and development of antibodies, evaluation of vaccines, cell apoptosis and related proteins, soluble protein detection, cell proliferation (CFSE), judgement of transfection efficiency, protein phosphorylation levels, signal transduction, physiology function of cell (identification, intracellular pH, intracellular calcium current, membrane potential), tumor related (tumor related gene expression, antitumor drugs mechanism, study of multidrug resistance, and treatment efficacy of radiation and chemotherapy).

 

     Compared to other technology, flowy cytometry has a greater advantage, which is designed for multiplexed analysis and can provide multiple data of a specific cell simultaneously. The results are more precise (single cell, multiple data) and promising (analyze each cell type, summarize cell information to obtain significantly statistic data and results).
