To enhance the academic levels of our young scientists through academic exchanges between our schools and other experts in the biomedical field, Professor Qiao Youlin, leading cancer epidemiologist from Peking Union Medical College, with his team including Zhao Fanghui, Chen Wen and Gao lei were invited to our school for academic exchange.

  On December 29^th, after the warm reception by Jia Suotang, schoolmaster of Shanxi University, Li Zhuoyu, director of Life Sciences College and other leaders, Professor Qiao Youlin gave an impressing presentation, titled by “China cancer epidemiology and prevention management”. Professor Gao lei, excellent young scientist in the tuberculosis epidemiology, then gave another talk with the title of “Latent infection of tuberculosis in rural China and early intervention”.  Nearly one hundreds of audiences from multiple fields in life science participated in this exchange seminar.   

  During the academic presentation, Professor Qiao comprehensively introduced the cancer trends, cancer burden, newest prevention and control measurement. Meanwhile Professor Qiao talked about his personal experiences as a Ph.D graduate from The Johns Hopkins University in pursuing the scientific career in the cancer prevention of Chinese population, which inspiredthe enthusiasm of young scientist for the scientific researches. The subsequent talk given by Professor Gao demonstrated a fundamental status about the tuberculosis burden in rural China and a systematic study design on how to conduct a large-scale clinical trial study. Finally the Q&A section incited the heated discussions from the audiences.
  

  After the scientific seminar, Professor Wu Changxin, director of Institutes of Biomedical Sciences Shanxi University, led all visitors to come to the lab for further communications. Professor Qiao gave a high appraise of the introduction of excellent scholars, the advanced equipment and the good academic environment. At the end of the exchange, Professor Qiao and his team discussed the potential cooperation and working plan with Professor Wu Changxin.
