On the morning of October 30, 2018, Mr. Carlos M. Morel, the honorary director of Shanxi Institute of Advanced Innovation, senior researcher of Brazil Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, academician of Brazilian Academy of Sciences, and academician of Third World Academy of Sciences, invited by Professor Wu Changxin of Shanxi University, delivered a special lecture on  “Evaluating the innovative capacity of developing countries for their relevance to health innovation”at the Boya Conference Centre, Shanxi University.

  Mr. Carlos M. Morel introduced the Mashelkar's method to assess the innovation capability of the country, and use the number of patents, economic condition, demographics, etc. to establish a new assessment index for the measurement of national innovation capability. With such new assessment method, Mr. Morel highly affirmed the rapid growth of China's innovation capability in recent years and he also heighted the important role of Brazil in the study of neglected tropical diseases.
