On April 4 2018, a round table meeting about stem cell development in Shanxi Province was hold by IBMS in Shanxi University at the initiative of Prof Wu Changxin, Shanxi University and Prof Zhang Ce, Shanxi Medical University. There are several stem cell experts attending this meeting, including Prof Ye Jinpei (British) in IBMS, Prof Zheng Yaowu (American) in IBMS, expert in cell biology and laboratory animal, vice President of Shanxi Dayi hospital, director of the Rheumatology Department, Prof Zhang Liyun, First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University infection branch director, Prof Zhang Liaoyun, Shanxi Provincial Cancer Hospital infection and immune branch, Prof Su Wen, experts engaged in development and application of stem cell from Shanxi Medical University, First and Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, Shanxi Provincial Cancer Hospital, and Health and Family Planning Commission of Shanxi Province.

  Everybody at the meeting agreed that: in recent years, there is a good development opportunity for Shanxi biomedicine; basic and clinical workers should take advantage of the Shanxi economic transformation make contribution to the economic development of Shanxi Province; need to work hard to make a breakthrough in the clinical transformation of stem cells. Prof Zhang Ce suggested that the theme of the conference should focus on the current situation of Shanxi stem cell research and talk about how to conduct stem cell research and develop related industries in the future. Under the guidance of this proposal, the experts held cordial and warm talks, exchanged their scientific achievements. As the main leader of stem cell research in Shanxi Province, Prof Ye Jinpei had a deep discussion with scientist from hospitals, forward some constructive suggestions and advice based on biological engineering institute. Prof Ye proposed that academic activities of stem cells ---- SanJin Stem Cells Forum should be founded based on Shanxi Society of Biotechnology (SSBT).

  Through communication and discussion, Shanxi University will hold stem cell activities at regular intervals (twice year), supported by universities, institutes, industries in Shanxi Province colleges and members of SanJin Sem Cells Forum. The first SanJin Sem Cells Forum was preliminarily confirmed to be hold at IBMS at the end of April or early May. The first forum will be one day. The preliminary schedule is planned as following:

Morning: Academic report

Academic report 1. Progress in international stem cell research and clinical application;

Academic report 2. Introduction of domestic stem cell research and development;

Academic report 3. Development and application of stem cells in Shanxi Province.

Afternoon discussion topic: stem cell research development, application and prospects in Shanxi Province, the breach of the stem cell research development and application in Shanxi Province at present, work cycle, and the key bottleneck.

  The scientific research, clinical and related enterprises in Shanxi Province will carry out in-depth discussions on all aspects of stem cells, with a view to reaching the frontier of scientific research. In the end, a summary report will be formed, reported to SSBT and the Shanxi Science and Technology Department, providing academic and technical advice to the Shanxi related departments.
